My daughter and I did the Dali triangle tour out of Barcelona. Rueben was our guide and he was exceptional! The trio to Figueres, Cadaques and Portlligat was the most beautiful drive ever. Along the way, Rueben filled in all the details of Salvador Dali's life, events and relationships. So before each stop, we felt we had been immersed in a real experience and that made the visit to the sites come alive. Rueben's knowledge of Dali and the country side blew us away - he knew the coolest details and recommended great, local places for us to eat. We highly recommend this tour with Rueben.
This day trip was absolutely fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone. I am a Dali fan but my husband isn't and he loved the trip too. What is more you can take photos in the museum and in Dali's home. the sight seeing along the way adds to the wonderful Dali experience. Wonderful scenery, wonderful time in the museum and Dali's house. A highlight if not the highlight of 8 weeks away.
A friend and I visited Barcelona in June. We had booked this tour prior to our departure from the States as we desired to see the countryside outside of Barcelona We were absolutely delighted that we had booked this tour! Our tour guide Mariano picked us up at our hotel and immediately made us feel very comfortable in his company. Mariano was extremely knowledgeable not just about Dali but about the countryside, the local people, economy, history and political climate. There was not one question we asked that he did not provide an informed answer. Mariano was also extremely sensitive to our personal tastes and interests allowing us to linger in parts of the tour that we enjoyed. He was also very concerned about our personal comforts in ensuring that we had opportunities to partake of refreshments as well as quiet moments to take in the scenery. The tour itself is well planned to provide insight into Dali's life as a young child, adolescent, and adult as well as delve into the eccentricities that permeated his life and drove his artistic expression. Prior to this tour, we knew that Dali enjoyed a very creative mind but after touring his museum and home/studio we better understood that genius. Although the highlights of this tour were certainly its destinations, we found the hours we spent with Mariano driving to and from Barcelona equally stimulating. Once Mariano understood that we were interested in interacting with him and finding out as much as we could about this part of Spain, the traveling time sped by as we were highly engaged in very stimulating discussions. We highly recommend this tour as one of the best of all those we experienced during our week in Barcelona and we particularly recommend Mariano as the best tour guide we had during our three weeks in Europe!
We had a wonderful time on this beautiful tour! Our tour guide, Miquel, was passionate and immersed in Dali's art and life story. His insights in the Dali Museum were fascinating we would not have learned nearly as much about Dali if we had gone on our own. Dali's house in Portlligat is a treasure -- shouldn't be missed! And the scenery along the way was wonderful. We would definitely book this tour again!
The Dali museum in Figueres is not to be missed and his house in Portlligat is amazing as well. Our guide, Mariusz was incredibly knowledgeable and an excellent host. My only criticism is I would have preferred to have lunch by the ocean in Cadaques, rather than a sandwich shop in Figueres.
This would be a 4 or 5 star experience based on the places visited, but the staggering rudeness of the local guide named Mariano, provided by the local tour operator, Inside Travel Barcelona, brings the rating down. The pick up time was scheduled for 8.45. At 8.37 we were informed the van would arrive 15 minutes or so late. We waited in the street from 9. The van arrived at 9.30. When we pointed out we had to wait on the street all this time, Mariano said, in a forthrightly rude manner : 1 I said we would be late 2 This is Barcelona
Based on Viatours online description of the trip, we had expected to be back at the hotel between 6.30 and 7. We had dinner plans arranged based on that timing. As the trip progressed, we began to realize that the guide appeared to be working to a later schedule. When we asked for the return journey to commence such that we could be back by the time published online, the guide said: What is said online is not what we do here. What made this particularly egregious was the fact that the guide had insisted on adding a visit to a site that he said was very interesting, but was not on the tour itinerary. We were 3 of us with the guide, My wife, who has a bad knee, and I. We are both in our 70s. The third was an Englishman, my guess he is in his 80s. The rocky terrain of the walk the guide took us on was such that my wife had to stop less than half way through. The older English gentleman fell and was bleeding from wounds on his elbow and knees. The guide was literally nowhere in sight while this happened as he was well ahead of the two of us, with no concern whatsoever of the progress we were making. The guide made no attempt to get to a paharmacy to dress the wounds. It was only when, at the next stop, my wife was assisting our wounded companion by giving him some tissues to wipe the blood that the guide realized the seriousness of the matter. A short while later while my wife was assisting as a waitress from a restaurant brought some medicine and tape to dress the wound, Mariano literally said shut up to my wife.
It is clearly the nastiest experience my wife and I have ever had with a tour guide. I believe our fellow companion, who was injured, shares our view.
We'd like to experience this Dali triangle trip, payed for it, then the local organizer replied this trip is full. They offered another trip to Girona and Figueres, Dali Museum. This whole tour felt like a cheap replacement of a better one. It was like a personal taxi service, excluded all the tickets. The local tour provider stated that the replacement was at the same price like the original one, but according to the website there is a clear price difference between the two tours. We got the cheaper one, with a local 'tour guide' who is not on the tour provider's website as a guide.
