Fabulous evening. We started by shopping for seafood in the market. Then we walked to our teaching kitchen. After sampling some tapas with sangria, we started on the main mission: preparing and cooking our seafood paella. Along the way we made our own sangria which we drank and ate our paella. It was a great evening with a great mix of people from all over the globe. Just sign up and do it. You will love it
We had an amazing evening with great guidance and lovely food. We were lucky that our group was quite small. I can imagine that if the group was much larger that the experience would be less. Fernando was great in making a nice joke but also explaining us lots during the workshop. It is definitly worth doing this workshop!!
The concept is good, however, there are some kinks that should be addressed. There should be a limit to the number of people they book for the tour. The night of our tour there were 30 people, way too many for a hands on class. Our tour was on Sunday, and we were informed that the market was closed, so there would be no visit, one of the reasons we booked this tour was the inclusion of a market visit before the cooking experience. It was a very loud crowd (perhaps too much sangria?) and very hard to experience the true culture of Spanish food. We were very disappointed in this tour, it is not what we have come to expect when booking with Viator.
The class was super huge therefore wasn't much cooking going on mostly watching - this was more of a demonstration than a cooking class!! Felt like we went for dinner and there are better places in Barcelona for dinner than this!!!
This class was one of the highlights of my trip to Barcelona. The chef Fernando was entertaining, patient, and a good teacher. The food and Sangria was delicious. This event was so worth the fee. You must try it. Single or couples will make new friends from all over the world. Enjoy
We met at a local bar and the Chef was already there along with his assistant. The group was about 30 people and everyone was so pleasant. We walked a few blocks to the market to purchase the ingredients for the meal. The market was AMAZING! You could buy everything from meats, to seafood to fruits and vegetables. The chef was very detail and explained the items we would be using.We then walked to the cooking venue, which took about 5 to 7 minutes to arrive. The dining area was dimly lit and that gave off a cozy and charming feel . The cooking area had a huge table and lots of utensils and pots. This experience was AWESOME and FUN. We make seafood paella and sangria. All the people in our group were so much fun. We had a blast. The meal was DELICIOUS and so was the sangria. I definitely recommend this cooking tour when in Barcelona. You won't be disappointed. I wish I was able to post a picture of the experience. That way interested parties can have a glimpse of what to expect. Just do it though. It's a great way to experience traditional paella and sangria, without breaking the budget..
This was promoted as an interactive cooking class. However we found it to be more underactive. We were surprised ( meaning everyone) to find there were 22 of us in the class. We all anticipated about a dozen. All 22 if us made our way through the throngs on Las Rambles following our chef and her assistant to a great market to buy the seafood. Several of us got separated from the leader, but all were eventually collected. Back we go to the kitchen/dining room to prepare our dinner. We were seated at 3 tables and waited while the chef and her assistant prepared the tapas and sangria. while we consumed that, the chef and assistant prepared the seafood. Then all 22 of us were callled to the kitchen to don aprons ( there were only 8) and to finish preparing the seafood. Since there were only about 6 spoons we simply passed them around. That was the extent of our interactivity. The paella was average and overall experience was disappointing.
