The audio guide was informative about history and culture, however, it doesn’t provide stop numbers and the bus driver was very rude when I asked him which stop we were on and said he didn’t know. The service stops at 6:00 pm in Nov. so you ability to use it is limited. I wasted my money on this. Public transport is much better.
We really enjoyed our Big Bus tour in Budapest. It made travel around the city easy and convenient with commentary. We were able to learn about places in the city we wanted to visit more in depth as we did our tour.
I think this tour was worth the money Budapest is that a massive city and most of the museums and points of interests are pretty much concentrated in the same 2-3 areas, which are covered by the different routes this hop on/off offers. As with any other hop on/off in any other city, the experience is the same, they drive you around and you listen to some commentary with the headphones - which may not be very exciting. My comment about this being worth is because you can use it like a taxi to go wherever you want to go and the frequency of buses is quite good, you won't have to wait too long for the next one to come. We took he 3-day option with the river cruise included, which was a nice thing to do. We also took the night tour which was included and it was OK, I guess that during summer it is not as enjoyable as it cold be in autumn or winter we took this in July, and at 7.30-8pm which is when the tour starts, there is no darkness at all, so you finish the night tour and there is still day light, so no lights and nothing to see, though the route they take is nice and covers quite a lot, including the Castle.
They offer a round trip to the Castle as well, the only challenge is to find where they depart from, but there are so many Big Bus representatives everywhere that you will find the spot in no time, just ask them.
