This is a MUST SEE tour! As a Christian, it was important for me to see the body of water Moses parted. The tour began at 7:00am. I was suppose to meet my guide, Hazem in the lobby at 7:00 am. Somehow, my alarm did not go off, and the front desk staff called at 6:55am to say Hazem was in the lobby waiting. My friend and I got dressed as quickly as possible, and got to the lobby at 7:15 am. We apologized profusely, but Hazem said there was no need to apologize and was very understanding. We felt really badly, but he was upbeat about it. He said that it was early in the morning, and we probably did not have breakfast yet. As we were driving along, he told the driver, Hany, to pull over. We stopped at a local restaurant, and Hazem bought us breakfast, a traditional Egyptian breakfast of falafel sandwich and fries, with his OWN money! This was NOT included in the tour. My friend needed some female supplies, and he had the driver to stop at a pharmacy. He was very knowledgeable of Egypts rich history, and shared his knowledge as we drove the 1.5 hrs to the Red Sea. Once arriving to the resort, Hazem made sure we were comfortable before checking us into a room for the day. After we changed, and were heading to the beach, Hazem provided us with snorkeling equipment. Once again, this was NOT included in the tour, and Hazem lent it to us free off charge. He took our cameras, and got amazing shots of us snorkeling and on the beach. We sat for lunch, Hazem explained how Muslims interpret the story of Moses, and my friend and I shared the Christian story. It was refreshing to have a mutual respect for each others beliefs, and share them in a safe, trusting space. We went to the beach awhile longer after lunch, and then went to our room to change, and prepare for our ride back to Cairo. Hazem and Hany have a GREAT sense of humor! They had us laughing all the way back to Cairo! Hazem walked us to our hotel door for safety, and gave us hugs. We gave him and Hany a generous tip, but no amount could compare to the quality of service, and the great memories they created for us!
May have been a great trip during spring or summer but not in winter when we went. The water was too cold but we still had a swim in the water for keepsake purpose. They are still in the process of building this area out and the most aha moment was seeing how the mountain was being cut to build resorts on the water.
This tour was very nice to get away from the city centre and enjoy a little down time at the beach. One of two issues, It made me wish I woulda spent more time there and secondly, the traffic was horrible. The commute became two times longer because of the traffic in the city centre. However, this isn't the fault of the tour guide or driver just take it into consideration. As it is a little over 3 hours each way.
Our tour guide hazem was very attentive to our needs and was always ensuring that we were given what we needed throughout the day. He stopped on the way there for coffee and asked if we needed breakfast etc. He waited around for us at the hotel until we said we were ready and was very helpful answering questions.
It was a great trip, we had a great time and ended the day with a nice lunch at a restaurant there. The hotel room we stayed in that day was very nice and spacious. the tour guide who drove us there was very kind and welcoming and did a great job showing and explaining sites along the route. It was a wonderful day!
The perfect trip for anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and busy streets of Cairo/Giza for a day. The perfect way to relax in a quiet and spacious resort. Going during the off peak season you may not be able to take advantage of all of the amenities. It's a bit of a hike once you factor in the traffic getting out and in to Cairo. Be prepared for a 2 hour plus ride each way.
