This was a very good (long) day's tour in which we saw a huge amount (even including ostriches at Cape Point!) with a super guide in Philippe whose knowledge and enthusiasm never waned. Thanks to poorly-organised pickups we had the mixed blessing of 1.5 hours driving round Cape Town to start with but after that it was all admirable.
The important sites on the Cape peninsula are visited. The drive down to Cape point is very attractive. If you are at the right time of year, you can go on a boat trip to see vast numbers of Seals. Through the National park as you approach the Cape, we saw Ellands, ostriches and Baboons - the latter causing a significant traffic jam as they would not get off the road! Cape point was a good chance to stretch your legs. Near Simon's town there is a large nesting area for penguins who are close and easy to see. Although not included, there is a lunch stop and the food there was good. The stop at the Botanical gardens was long enough to get a good idea of what is there. This tour allowed the Peninsular to be seen with reasonable length of time at stops. It is a good way of knowing where things are and whether you want to return to anything later.
It was an excellent tour, getting down to the Cape Point, and visiting the cute penguins on the way back to Cape Town. We were a little short on time to visit the arboretum in Cape Town, and maybe there would have been a way to shorten time somewhere else lunch to have more time at the arboretum. Overall, though, we saw a lot at a very reasonable price.
We got to see A LOT on this tour but it was a bit rushed. We were delayed in the morning so that played a part in the rush. Also, it would have saved some time and been easier if all tickets were included which I thought they were rather than us having to wait in lines to get tickets for the seal boat tour which is mentioned as optional but that is the only thing to do at the stop and everyone does it and railcar up to Cape Point.
Overall, it was a great trip. Like I said, we saw a lot and the guides were entertaining and informative.
A lovely and scenic tour not to be missed if it's the one thing you do in Cape Town! Our guide, George, was pretty interesting and there was never a dull moment. It's only on this tour one realizes the beauty and grandeur of the mountains, ocean, vistas and the huge False Bay Area. We saw baboons, ostriches and horses along the tour and the cute little penguins at Boulders Beach. Tons of beautiful photo opportunities at a lighthouse, by the ocean and along Chapmans Peak Drive. Top tour in Cape Town!
