From the beginning of our morning in the market to eating our delicious meal, this was an incredible experience. Our teacher/guide Peanut walked us through each step of making a Thai, soup, stir fry and curry. Making our own curry paste from scratch was a high point for me. Grinding and pounding the ingredients into a delicious paste was a new experience. There were children through seniors in our group and we all enjoyed the day. It was time very well spent!
This was great fun! Although our big group always seemed to be rushed along and some of my food was not so tasty :-, it was a good class. The instructor was humorous. They give a lovely cookbook to you for free in the end.
Thi Merchant is bogus. They did not pickup any call, we probably called a million times. I also contacted them thru google contact and they would not pickup. My hotel also called to confirm our pickup and no answer. We ultimately had to pay much higher price for a last minute cooking class with another tour company.
An excellent morning learning the basics of Thai cooking. As it turned out it seems I dont like lemongrass which caused a bit of a problem as you get to eat what you cook at the end, and lemongrass goes in EVERYTHING, I couldnt eat anything! But thats not the fault of the activity which was first class, super friendly staff.
This was a very entertaining and informative class. There were a lot of options of dishes to cook, including some that are not typically included in most classes that I have done elsewhere, and everyone could cook what they wanted rather than the whole class cook the same thing.
I absolutely loved it. I was travelling by myself so wasn't sure if it would be fun on my own, but it was great. The instructor was hilarious and we had lots of options for what we wanted to cook. The food was delicious and you get a cookbook of everything to take home. This was one of the best things I did when I was in Chiang Mai. Would do it again for sure.
Really this tour! The group size was quite large compared to other cooking classes I went on in Asia, but that didn't really matter - the chef spoke great English and the food tasted fantastic. Really nice to get a cooking book at the end as well.
