We didn’t have a guide for this tour. However, we did rent an audible tape of what we were viewing. The museum itself is not very large. Be aware that the only bathroom is before you enter the museum. You must leave the facilities and have someonv
We decided to go to the Academy to see the statue of David and 3 days before we were going to go there we tried to get tickets online and could not achieve this through the normal sources we were able to get in for 46 Euro, which is 30 Euro more than ticket price. No guide. I guess we deserve the scalping price for being tardy. The line to get in was looooonnnng!
This was definitely worth the extra money. I’m giving 4/5 since we still had to wait about 15-20 minutes to enter due to the high volume of people, but individuals without reserved times were waiting up to 2 hours!! I would recommend for anyone that has limited time in Florence or traveling at peak times.
The actual cost of tickets was 8€ for each of the two adults and only 4€ for each of my two kids. We paid $96 a month before, because I had no idea. I feel completely ripped off. My husband literally walked over with the guy when he purchased the tickets. My advice, go 1/2 hour before opening and buy the tickets yourself.
We wound up being convinced to do a tour. The people said that our tickets wouldn’t necessarily help get us in faster. Not sure if this was true or not. The lines were pretty long. We had to pay cash. That’s the bad part. The good part was the tour guide was great and it was helpful to have her knowledge.
This company was set up well, and delivered as promised. We upgraded to the guided tour based on our experience at the Vatican museum. I would not do that again. Our tour guide devoted almost all of our time to the statue of David which is breath-taking, but then neglected the rest of the museum.
