Un recorrido de 2 horas del Peñón para ver los monumentos más importantes de Gibraltar. Un pequeño grupo contará con un guía turístico profesional y experto.
The basic tour was great, even though the weather did not co-operative. Phillip, our driver/guide was knowledgeable, funny and just a great enjoyment. As others have said, finding the Bus/Car park was a challenge.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the WWII Tunnel add-on. Our guide for this was Spanish and even though he spoke English, the accent made it difficult to understand his comments. If he had been English, I definitely would have given it 5 Stars.
As we read, you cannot see Gibraltar on your own in one day. This tour met our eall our expectations - and while it rained the day before, Friday was nice and sunny.
An improvement to the booking should be more specific than 'Coach Park', when it should have read what we were messaged after asking for clarification ...'Midtown Car Park on Reclamation road'.
There are several Coach Parks in GIB, and a newbie would not know where to go.
Very interesting tour, especially learning about the history of the rock, seeing St. Michael's cave, the monkeys and the WWII cave tour. i would highly recommend also getting tickets for the Top of the Rock Cable Car. The view is incredible and you see a lot more monkeys! Listen to the warnings about being around the monkeys!
We were not sure we wanted to take a tour in Gibraltar, in the end we chose this one.
First thing, we were on a cruise, I don't understand why they don't have an option to pick up from the cruise terminal. We walked from the port to the coach bus terminal which was about a 25 minute walk. Since our ship was only in port for 4 hours, a 25 minute walk seemed to be a waste of time.
We were too early and I had met a couple of the drivers on the 2nd floor of the coach bus terminal and told to come back 15 minutes before the tour starts which was at 12:30pm. We walked a couple blocks away to a nice shopping area which had places to eat and store to shop at. We came back at 12:15pm and the place started to get busy. This tour is operated by Blands.
Unfortunately at this point things seem to be quite disorganized. There were several groups of people there, and we did not know which bus to wait for. I asked which bus should we wait for and was to told to wait. After several groups left, it is 12:45pm and we still don't know which bus to wait for. I asked again and don't they have 2 busses missing but not to worry and to wait longer. Since we were short on time I was getting concerned.
Anyways, after some time, a bus backed in, a group people were loaded up, and then we were waved to join this bus. I felt like we were an added to a tour at the last minute.
Our bus driver/tour guide's name was Jesus. He was charming and made the tour entertaining. We were taken to a Westerly point where we were let off to take pictures. It was not quite a clear day and we were told that we probably could not see Africa that day. We were then driven up the hill to the rock. During the tour, our guide gave us some history and information about the rock.
We then visited St Michael's cave, it looks like a cave that has been converted to do social functions or concerts. Outside of the cave there were some monkeys that our guide fed and played with. This was interesting, but we were told we had about 15 to 20 minutes, we came back on time then felt like we spent about 30 minutes watching our guide hang out with other guides and play with the monkeys.
Finally we moved to the WW2 caves. We had to wear construction helmets, unfortunately I received a helmet that smelled like bad BO! The tour group inside the caves was rather large and it was quite humid. The tour of the cave was done by a different person not the Blands company. I thought the WW2 caves were an option, we did not expect this portion of the tour and it seemed to be the rest of the tour. Myself and another group were getting concerned about our time, Jesus assured me that he would take us back to the cruise terminal directly which was great.
Overall this tour was not bad, maybe not quite what we expected. When I went back over the tour details, I believe they showed us everything that was on the tour. We were hoping to take the tram up the mountain, but I guess that was another tour. I wished we had more time at the rock so we could enjoyed that shopping area a little more. But our ship was only in port for a limited time.
This was an excellent tour. The meeting point is hard to find you have to walk into where the busses park in the garage then go upstairs and wait In the departures café until about 10 mins before departure then walk down stairs to the Blands Buss part of the garage. The tour guide was really knowledgeable and brought the group together really well. The caves tour was in with the deal so no extra cost, We really enjoyed the whole package and definitely recommend it to others. Book early to avoid disappointment.
