This review is several months late because it would not process the last time I tried. This tour is best described as a scam. The tour van was absolutely disgusting-- ROACHES crawled all over the place, including on my friend's leg! We brought it up to our guide, but he said that was normal! That was a lie- no other taxi I used in Kuala Lumpur had roaches! Our guide was worse than a taxi driver- he had no advice, trivia, or other knowledge to give about the city or the tour destinations. He simply picked us up and dropped us off. The Batu Caves itself was amazing, but we could have easily reached it with a taxi driver or Uber.

The Elephant Sanctuary was downright horrible and it made sense afterward why nobody we knew in KL had heard of it. The elephants were forced with rods to do tricks and bath in stagnant water full of feces. I am very glad I did not buy the extra ticket offered to bathe with the baby elephants, because the water is probably full of bad bacteria. I would heavily advise against supporting the business.

All in all, we paid an exorbitant amount for a glorified taxi driver. We could have paid a fraction of the amount to just take a taxi or Uber to the Batu Caves and have had a great time. Our experience was ruined.

The tour guide was grate, he was very nice!! On the tour we were only 4 people so it felt like it was personlized since the tour guide was very focused on making our expericene an amazing one.

Well organized, informative, could
Not wash the baby elephants due to the rivers water level, unfortunately incident with unsupervised children teasing the elephants with food, no staff in sight to stop then.

AMAZING trip! Our tour guide was super friendly and pointed out interesting things for us. Started off at the Batu Caves- what a trek but well worth making it to the top. Then onto Deerland and the Elephant Sanctuary. Lunch was nice, and fresh fruit on the way home topped it off. Thank you!

Our English speaking driver arrived on time, ready with water and suggestions for the day. Travel to the Elephant Sanctuary included a stop at the amazing Baht Caves for a quick hike into the limestone caverns, walk through the vendors and picture taking. Our guide might have been able to provide a running travelogue for the 1.5 hour drive onward to Kuala Gandah but I was getting to know my new travel mate. The Sanctuary itself was a bit disappointing as the river was down so no bathing or free-roaming observation of elephants. That said, as an LA Zoo docent, I found the video presentation, youngster visitation and 'parade' of elders with their handlers very wonderful. These folks are providing a space and the care for creatures that have been robbed of their natural environment. The overwhelming palm tree plantations are squeezing out living space for too many living things!

very dissapointed with this tour, what was saud to be on iffer wasnt at all. given a dry sandwich for lunch though lunch and water was to.be included. out tour guide had limited english. we were picked up nearly an hour late and we then had to wait nearly 2 hrs before the elephant display etc started. once the elephants came out and their eas a brief talk that we could not understand we then got to.see and feed these beautiful creatures for 30mins. then we were driven back to.our hotel. would not use this company again.... tour that we paid for didnt happen, a tour guide with little english so we werent able to communicate very well, there's no nice picnic lunch as stated.

We arrived in Kuala Lumpur late the night before this trip and so did not have time to phone the travel company on the ground to confirm the trip. But it was already confirmed by email with Viator. However we were not picked up at said time and waited for some time to allow for traffic delays etc.with no results. We asked the concierge to make the phone call for us which eventually yielded results - after more than one call. We were then picked up , but although we had a driver, he certainly was no guide. That meant we were driven to the destination - namely the elephant sanctuary, via the other stops included in the trip, but with no information to speak about. It was good to see the scenery, and the famous Batu Caves, and the little Deer Farm, and we stopped at a fruit stall where our driver bought some pieces of exotic fruits for us to taste,on the way. After lunch at a country roadside restaurant a very country restaurant , we arrived at the elephant sanctuary. Our driver walked into the main Conservation Center with us and pointed out the theatre for the audio-visual documentary which he told us would start at 2pm. So we went to see the elephants first which were located in lovely landscaped gardens setting. We then rushed back to the theatre to see a group of people exiting - the show was over. Our driver had got his times/days mixed. So we missed the explanation documentary which we were very disappointed about. Our drive back was uneventful, and silent, and we arrived back in Kuala Lumpur at least a couple of hours earlier than we were meant to. That was the difference between having a driver and a driver/guide. I must say we were very disappointed . Our elephant habitat in Dublin Zoo,Ireland take part in elephant and all animal conservation programmes and I could, hand on heart say it is just as ,if not more, exciting as Kuala Gandah.! In defence of Viator I would put the blame on the local travel company on the ground in Kuala Lumpur for this.
