an unforgettable day!! My wife and I really enjoyed the day. Everything was great, bus just a little bit late but nothing important..., guide very kind and polite, and of course the Alhambra....no words!!! , then the guide took us to the city center and made us a wonderfull walking tour. I highly recommend this tour, of course!!
Our tour of the Alhambra was excellent. Our guide was amazing, but she had to do multiple languages, as there were 2 couples that spoke spanish and not english. made our tour a bit longer, but our guide did a good job of trying to balance it. Our bus tour was another story. The man who was the guide on the bus did not speak english well, and the bus was a mix of french, spanish and english. The guide seemed like he was reading the same script in 3 languages and was not gracious at all. He was rude, and since we did not understand english, any question we asked was met with hostility. also, we got to granada during siesta, so the only choice we had to do was eat lunch and could not shop. Alhambra, totally worth it. The rest of it, not so much
Tour of Alhambra including palace was terrific with an excellent guide. Bus ride was comfortable and guide Vanessa provided a great deal of interesting information about Malaga and the surrounding area. However, the less than two free hours in Granada were insufficient to see anything of substance so of little value. Why not include one sight e.g. Silk market, cathedral for those who prefer not to just wander or shop?
This tour had potential that Julia travel once again managed to squander by expertly wasting half a day.
First things first, Alhambra is everything they say it is - gorgeous and completely fascinating. This was in large part due to our wonderful guide not our Julia travel guide, but our guide only for Alhambra. She was fantastic. Enthusiastic, engaging, well informed, articulate, and funny. Just a joy to be with and made the trip truly memorable, even under unrelenting rain showers!
And that's where things fell apart. After having toured Alhambra, the day could have, and indeed should have, ended. But, our guide Paco decided we needed to spend the next several hours walking around in the rain to do....nothing really. We looked at a building, but only looked as we didn't go inside any of them to see anything even remotely interesting. We were then were given limited time to wander and eat only to end up waiting another 25 minutes to wait in the cold rain for the bus to return. This part of the trip was a complete waste of time. Not cool, Paco. Not cool.
Alhambra is still a must see. I just wouldn't do it with Julia Travel. Get there on your own if you can and get a guide when you get there or take a tour that is exclusive to Alhambra with no pointless excusions.
Excellent tour! Our guide was brilliant - spoke fluent English and was a font of knowledge. We met the coach at a central location in Malaga only 10 minutes walk from our hotel. The coach was very comfortable and we stopped on the way up to Granada to freshen up, grab a coffee etc, and also on the way back. In Granada itself we had about 1.30 hours of free time so we took in the Cathedral stunning and had time to grab a quick bite of lunch before meeting up and getting back into the coach and on to the Allhambra. Our tour included entrance to the Allhambra and I gather that some tours only include the gardens so make sure you know exactly what you're booking. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.
The Alhambra is a must see but on this tour you only had time for a quick glance rather than a proper look.
The tour starts in Malaga and the coach is comfortable with a guide who gives you some interesting information about the countryside you are travelling through. Our guide was called Paco and he had some witty asides but as the tour went on he didnt appear overly professional. At every stop he smoked constantly and was late. After insisting that everyone be back at the pick up point in Granada at 1.30 he appeared 15 mins later-not what I expect from a guide. The title of this tour is also misleading. When you arrive in Granada you do walk with the guide but only from the drop off point into the centre with no commenteray or information about Granada being given. Once there you are just left with no absolutely no advice about where to go or what to see. If I had known this I would have done some research about what I could see in the limited time we had there.
After the stop in Granada you are then taken to the Alhambra. Once there we were split into groups by language and then left with a different tour guide. This took quite a long time to organise which was very annoying. On this tour the English speakers were joined by the German speakers which was not ideal as everything had to be explained twice. The Spanish and French speakers each had their own guide. You are given headsets and while it took a while to get used to our guides accent he was very knowledgable but there was no real time to ask any questions or get more info about particular items of interest. The tour took around two hours which just wasnt enough time to get a real feel for the place or to truly appreciate the beauty of the gardens or the intricacies of the buildings.
I feel that a better use of time would be to just go directly to the Alhambra and be able to have a relaxed pace of tour and a little free time there rather than going to Granda for such a short period of time that you barely had a chance to see anything. There was a 20 minute rest stop on the way there and back which stretched to 30 minutes by the time the guide returned to the coach which could also probably have been shortened slightly to allow more time at the Alhambra itself.
I can absolutely recommend going to the Alhambra but do not book this tour. I will return but I will just arrange tickets etc myself or find a tour that actually gives you time to enjoy it and is better organised. I dont like to leave bad reviews but I feel the title of the tour is misleading and I imagine many others would be disappointed with this tour.
