The scenery is BEAUTIFUL! I also thought the itinerary was great. It was the perfect amount of sight seeing in the time that was allotted.
Unfortunately, our guide - while she was a lovely woman - provided hardly any commentary. There were 8 of us in the van/coach. One of the couples required their commentary in italian which would have been okay, except that it was specifically listed as an english speaking tour. So the downside of that was that our guide gave us commentary in english, but continued to give extensive commentary in Italian. And the rest of the time she spent speaking with the driver. Most of our tour was spent in silence, other than the occasional pointing out of landmarks.
The other disappointment was our lunch. The restaurant was beautiful. When we arrived it was completely empty, yet the owners insisted on sitting the 8 of us at one table in the corner - as far away from the views as possible. There would have been so many other places we could have sat to enjoy the beautiful views. The food was presented to us but was never explained what we were eating. It also would have been a great opportunity for us to chat with other travellers, but the conversation was awkward and stilted. Our guide could have helped facilitate that by having us introduce ourselves from the beginning of the tour, where we were from, etc.
Overall we loved the scenery and the chance to see the coast. But we were extremely disappointed with our guide and the restaurant.
We spent more time at Naples picking/dropping people than we did exploring this beautiful Italian coastline! The views were amazing on the drive and we did visit all 3 locations but only for 35-40 mins for Amalfi and Sorrento. We only stopped for 5-10 mins at Positano to take photos. Waste of money!
The tour was done on a Monday and because it was less crowded than weekends, the driver was more permissive with stops and itinerary.
We drove in a mini bus with 9 people total the driver Lucio.
The driver had a specific italian accent but his english was good. We learned a lot of interesting things and he drove nicely on the vary narrow roads on the coast.
The first stop was at a limoncello factory. Next Sorrento inlay wood factory where a guy who spoke a perfect english presented some of the steps to make inlay wood.
In sorrento there was some free time to grab some pictures.
Next stop was a panoramic view of Positano where we stopped only for a few minutes.
After this, we had lunch at a nice restaurant with a really nice view. We did not get the really panoramic tables but it was ok. The food was great: a salad as a starter and pasta with mozzarella and eggplants as a main course sparkling and natural water.
The last stop was in Amalfi where we had about 45 minutes to walk around and take pictures.
