This excursion was worth every penny! We had great transportation to the venue where we met with some great guides who led us through the exhilarating experience of 12 long and fast zip lines. It's not for the faint of heart, but we had a great time swinging through the jungle and ending in the pool! We hiked to the Hoya Azul that really is as blue and beautiful as the pictures suggest. We were there for at least an hour before hiking back for a great buffet lunch with some new friends. There's even an area to see birds, monkeys, and snakes if you're interested in the local wildlife. Great for kids and adventurous couples.
Pick up from our hotel went smoothly 7:25AM. We had a few stops to get two more groups, and it was a pretty nice ride to Scape Park. My two daughters, ages 12 and 15, and I went zip lining as our first excursion: really fun. We had 5 guides get us into our harnesses and other gear. They were very thorough in making sure we were safely equipped and knew how to use the hand break kids did not have a hand break. We zip lined about an hour to the point where the girls and I were somewhat tired of it and wanted to stop. The guides were fun, amazingly safe, and careful that everyone got through the many, many lines were rode. We had a great time and I highly reccommend zip lining in this park. The 'hike' to Hoya Azul was uneventful. Our guide was thorough in pointing out some interesting features of the park, but I felt like there could have been more 'clean' up of trees and vegetation so that the labeled flora were more distinguishable from the 'jungle'. For example, there was an olive tree along the trail, but it wasn't clearly separated out from the vines about to engulf it. Regardless, it was a super easy walk to Hoya Azul. Hoya Azul is more beautiful than the pictures show. My daughters and I liked the swim. We were allotted an hour at the actual hole, but we and most people were done in about 30 minutes. We had a buffet lunch after, which was delicious and refreshing: different vegetable salads, shredded pork, 'fajita' chicken, sliced pineapples and papaya. Beverages served were soda, water, and different juices. I did not inquire about alcoholic drinks. We walked about a bit to take a look at the different 'captive' animals: monkeys, parakeets, snakes, and then got on a shuttle home. The entire trip was very well organized and coordinated. We were back at our resort a little after 2pm.
This was so much fun. The zip lines consisted of 12 lines. The last one landed you in a pool and you have the option to do it or not. The remaining 11 lines were great, some rather short and others quite long. I always felt safe and the tour operators were very professional. We especially loved crazy Harley. He had a lot of energy and was fun. There was considerable climbing involved to get to some of the platforms. Some by climbing stairs, some by climbing rocks. I'm 56 and not in top physical condition but I was able to do it without much problem. There was a photographer who snapped some pictures of us on a couple runs. Cost us 60 for the cd. It was OK but a lot of near double shots. Almost looks like a video when you scroll fast through them. Took us about 1 1/2 hours to complete the zip line. Then we went to hoyo azul. It was a short walk through the woods. We walked alone, no guide. Some signage along the way to tell you about the plants and critters you might see. The orchid and bromeliad garden was beautiful. The blue hole was beautiful and we were able to jump right in. There might have been 10 of us there in total so we really had it all to ourselves. We stayed about 1/2hour there and then walked back. Unfortunately the photographer was not there to photograph our plunge. I don't know why it was so quiet there that day. There may have been 50 people total doing the zip line and blue hole while we were there. It was well run and lunch was provided after our 2 tours. I recommend scape park. However, Mario as in andretti, our bus driver, scared us more than the zip lines did. Speeding, running stops, and going the wrong way around a rotary, kept us all holding on for dear life!
This tour was awesome!! All 6 of us enjoyed all of the guides were super funny and nice. My only recommendation would be have the drivers that pick up from hotels carry a paper with last names! Language barrier was tough/ we waited 2 hours in lobby to find out they had left us. It ended up working.
This was a blast! We did this tour as a family with two young teens. Zip lines were just the right length to give a good thrill...the last one was really long and super fast!. Views were incredible, staff friendly and safety conscious. Water hole was gorgeous! Hike was pleasant. Highly recommend!
