The best tour I've had in Iceland. Our guide Flosi was so knowledgeable, told us lots of stories, incorporated music, and we went to more places than I ever thought possible in one day. We were given 40 or so minutes at almost every site and it's amazing how much those 40 minutes flew by. I highly recommend this tour for your trip to Iceland
Let me start this review by saying that you should absolutely do the Southern Iceland Glaciers, Waterfalls and Beaches Day tour HOWEVER I would HIGHLY recommend you NOT do it with the Bus Iceland Company due to our experience with the pick-up process and most importantly, the tour guide.
We were told we could not be picked up at our place, which was only minutes from other stops. They told us to go 2 hours away, via bus, in order to be picked up. Turns out, others were picked up minutes from us and we could have just walked to a closer pick up location. Even worse, when we were picked up, the driver told us that she wasnt even going to come get us because there was not a cruise ship there. We had been traveling by bus for 2 hours and in the cold for almost another hour. It was a horrible way to start the day. After another hour of waiting for our big bus and tour guide, we were finally on our way.
Like I said, the places were amazing however our pick up process and the day with this guide were not. The tour guide the company did not send me his name when I requested but he was a musician and had long hair was unbelievably negative about the weather, attractions, and went on and on about how horrible certain things in Iceland are and what to NOT do. Which hurt my feelings as I was really excited about a couple areas and attractions but he went on and on about how stupid those things were. He was extremely rude, unfriendly and everything opposite of what we had experienced in Iceland that far. He never talked to us, he got out and smoked at every stop, and he would not even give us the respect to move out of the way when we entered the bus, we had to squeeze by him. He would be at the stops out smoking and not talking to anyone and he had the audacity to get back on and say all the things he saw, but did not tell anyone while he was seeing them.like a Puffin!! He was monotone and it felt like this was the last place in the world he wanted to be. The bus had less leg room than an American domestic flight and when the seats went down you could not even get into your seats. The bus was also cold and VERY crowded.
We enjoyed the sights and would highly recommend doing the trip but save yourself the misery of doing it with Bus Iceland in the fear that you would have the same guide and the large uncomfortable bus. We had another tour with Bus Iceland later in the week that was a SMALL group tour and this tour and guideIce Man were both AMAZING!! Just stay away from the big bus tours and the long haired musician guide.
A great tour. The timing was well planned to give breaks to walk around and explore these exciting sites. The volcanic beaches were quite a sight to see. Lunch in Vik was one of my favorite meals of my whole trip recommendation - get the Icelandic Meat Soup at the Ice Cave Restaurant The bus was very comfortable and the tour guide was very informative.
