Fantastic! Fantastic! Alex did an excellent job organizing this tour. My cruise arrived in St. Petersburg one day later than scheduled and Alex rearranged all the tours without charging any extra even though this must have come at loss to him. He was patient and very accommodating and we got exactly what was promised and more including a boat ride. Our Tour Guide Veronika was very knowledgeable imparting her knowledge of the Russian history . I strongly recommend this company Maxbalt for any excursions in St. Petersburg. Pickup and drop off was at the cruise terminal and it was a very manageable small group.
Good accommodation good driver but TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE GUIDE from MaxiBaltTOURS Saint -Petersburg Russia .Her name is TATIANA not only that she had a very very strong accent that made her presentation misunderstood but also she didn't use a microphone so we didn't hear her most of the times .On top of that she had an attitude when we ask questions she was answering with a whole speech to cover her ineptitude .She mixed ,dates of events ,also historical names and events ,numerous times .She didn't wait for us, and permanently answering like a robot, that she follows a "program" The lunch was very bad ,less then $4 for a fix menu (260 rubles) they gave us, and the owner asked us to pay extra for a glass of faucet water and for butter ,was a really dump with only 1 local costumer besides our group , used mostly as a take out joint .Very poor choice to bring visitors and especially costumers that paid a great amount of money for this guided tour, if you want to show off with your beautiful City and the great people of Russia .Viator is a good company highly regarded by so many ,and was very difficult for me to write this negative review ,but hope that was help[full to your company .I will use you again .Thank you for your consideration .
Absolutely a great tour! Our guide was amazing, her English speaking skills were perfect. Our timing was perfect, as others waited in long lines our tour group moved through each stop with total ease. The guide kept our group of 15 perfectly paced to see all the key sights. She placed us in the best spot at the right time at Petroff fountain to see the opening ceremony. Her knowledge level across the tour, was like having a University professor guide you through the stops and explain the amazing history of St Petersburg. We were so glad we booked this tour instead of cruise ship version. We paid less and got to do and see more.
The first day was chaotic because two different tours were combined and we didn't easily connect with our tour guide as we left passport control -- which was unnerving given the scrutinity we experienced at passport control. We were told there was an experimental process tried that day but signage would have helped. Then, we were told the tours were combined but not how. Total group was 6. One person on the tour had input into extra stops but no one else was asked and then that person really didn't care about the stop and didn't get out of the van. I had a request that would have made a big difference for us, but didn't feel I could ask. The second day was very rushed and I did mention that I wanted to stop for some souvenirs for my grandchildren. I was told we were not going anywhere where there were souvenirs. Then we went to Peterhof and outside the entrance there were great options but we were not given any time to stop. The first day we were given 15 minutes in the gift shop at the Hermitage. I was in line to pay and the guide rushed me and left. I paid for my purchase but didn't have time to get a receipt for a purchase in cash for over 7000 rupels/ 200.00. Then I spent time trying to locate the guide/group. Not time well spent when a receipt would have been appreciated. I felt anxious during the tour, not relaxed like a small group tour should be. Better communications would have gone a long way to remedy our experience.
Before booking this tour ask which tourguide must be experienced is leading the tour.
The company president was fantastic....but the tourguide herself was terrible. This is NOT the right job for her.
Due to circumstances beyond his control we couldn't switch to a REAL tour guide for the 2nd day.
We absolutely enjoyed this excursion, it meet all our expectations of seeing as much of St Petersburg as possible in two days. Our guide Sonja had a wonderful command of English, was well informed, highly educated and concerned that we fully understood what we were seeing, hearing and learning. We were a perfect size group of eight transported in a luxury van with a great driver, Ivan. We were met by the owner of the tour company Maxi Balt Tours , Alexei Volkov, and taken to the Faberge Museum in his personal car as we were the only two of the eight who were seeing this very worthwhile exhibit. We highly recommend you consider seeing St Petersburg with MaxiBaltTours. There is a great deal of walking involved in this tour, but felt good to get some serious exercise after eating cruise ship meals for 10 days.
Really well organized and very informative. Our guides Anna and Alexi could not have been better. The two days were filled, with the best sights of the city which is very beautiful and the museums were great. The trip to the Peterhof and Catherine's Palace, were very well done. The timing worked really well both days.
