Atsushi was our guide and he was outstanding. His knowledge of literally everywhere we went was pretty incredible. His English was outstanding. The lunch was great, tower is something you need to see if you go to Tokyo and the River cruise was a great different perspective to view Tokyo. After the cruise there was an opportunity for shopping in what I would call a large local market. Great place for souvenirs to bring home.
We had a full day of touring around Tokyo. We had just arrived in Tokyo on our first visit to Japan. One thing we did not know is that it was a major holiday weekend in Japan. There were crowds everywhere. We started with the Tokyo tower and had a beautiful clear day. I know the operator does not control weather but this was a great day. At the top of the tower we could see Mt Fuji! It was an amazing site. We experienced an authentic Japanese Tea Ceremony. This is a dying art since younger generations are less interested in history so it was nice to be able to see this. We saw so much of Tokyo while driving around the city. We stopped at the Imperial Palace grounds, then we took a river Cruise which was more transportation than sightseeing. The cruise ended at a major shopping area and Buddhist temple. The shopping district was large and crowded. A unique experience. All in all it was a great full day and gave us a great taste of Tokyo.
Very nice trip. Had a great time. Loved that it was some "alone time" on every stop, so we could take pictures and have a look around. Had a great guide, just enough talking. a great way to see Tokyo and learn about the culture and history.
This tour was great. We brought our two daughters, aged 8 and 6, and they thoroughly enjoyed it as well. The tour guide spoke English well and was very funny. We were able to spend a good amount of time at each stop, but not too much. We didn't feel rushed, but we didn't feel like we spent too long at any one stop either. The lunch that was included was amazing. It was like Tepanyaki, but instead of the meat and veggies being cooked on a griddle, it was cooked on a lava stone from Mount Fuji. It is easy to be overwhelmed with all that Tokyo has to offer, but a tour like this is very helpful for seeing a lot in a small amount of time and learning a lot about the history of Tokyo as well. It also helps you to see some things that you may want to go back to on your own to explore more. Overall, it was well worth the money and was one of the highlights of our 4 days in Tokyo.
Truthfully, you could manage all these stops by yourself as long as you have a good map and don't mind self exploration. Every stop was close to subway lines. But the convenience of having it all done for you, in my opinion, was worth the price. After each stop, you just hopped back on the bus and were whisked to your next destination. The view from the top of the Tokyo Tower was breathtaking - and they have those class floors you can stand on and look straight down. The tea ceremony - to be honest - was a bit slow and uncomfortable. You sit in an enchant tea hut on backless benches where you aren't allowed to lean on the walls - so if you're like me and have back problems, you might request to stand for the ceremony. But for me, the best part was the river cruise - for a unique and open view of the otherwise crowded and claustrophobic city. On the river, I felt like I could actually catch a breath of fresh air.
